Doxymucolin

Composition: Each 1 ml contains:

Doxycycline Hyclate 110.9 mg. (Equivalent to 100 mg Doxycycline base)
Bromhexine HCl 10 mg. (Equivalent to 9.11 mg Bromhexine base)

Properties : Doxycycline is a wide spectrum antimicrobial agent, belongs to tetracyclines group that possess antimicrobial activity by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible organisms. It has a good activity against most mycoplasma, spirochetes, Chlamydia and Rickettsia and against gram-positive bacteria such as staphylococcus, streptococci, Actinomyces spp., Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium perfringens and tetani and Listeria monocytogenes. Among gram-negative bacteria, doxycycline has activity against Bordetella spp., Brucella, Haemophilus spp., Pasturella multocida and Shigella.

Bromhexine is a strong mucolytic agent, it has a value in achieving liquefaction and improved flow characteristic of mucous by increasing its volume and decreasing its viscidity. It is suggested that bromhexine improves lysosomal function and that lysosomal enzymes hydrolyse the mucopolysaccharide fibres of mucous.
